Agree. Teachers/counselors/parents are the primary culprits here.

That myth was set in stone at my high school. You would be a failure without a college degree, would have no hope of ever getting a decent job, would end up working at Burger King, etc.

And they're still feeding that crap to kids even after the skyrocketing tuition and diminishing returns of a (non-specific) college degree. Its criminal.
